The Heat's chances of landing forward Lamar Odom appeared to diminish Thursday when the Los Angeles Clippers decided not to keep point guard Andre Miller.

By failing to match Miller's six-year, $51 million offer sheet from Denver, the Clippers freed up salary-cap space to match any offers for Odom.

The Clippers had said they intended to match any offers extended to their restricted free agents, but it became apparent they would not be able to re-sign at least one of the four: Odom, Miller, forward Elton Brand and swingman Corey Maggette.

The team previously matched offer sheets signed by Brand with the Heat (six years, $82 million) and by Maggette with Utah (six years, $45 million).

The Heat has been interested in Odom since losing Brand, but its offer likely would be in the range of $10 million a year for at least three years, which the Clippers are prepared to match.
