The Toronto Raptors have 16 guaranteed contracts heading into training camp, which will begin in October. The total includes centre Hakeem Olajuwon, whose contract the Raptors are on the hook for even though he announced his retirement last season, and centre Eric Montross, who continues to be plagued by an injured foot.

The injury kept Montross sidelined for all of last season, and Raptors GM Glen Grunwald said the prognosis for his return does not look promising.

"He still hasn't found a solution to his foot and it's still bugging him a lot," Grunwald said. "I talked to him the other day and he's still in a lot of pain."

Grunwald said he hopes to have Montross's situation cleared up within a week or two.
