Voshon Lenard soon could be wearing a Denver Nuggets uniform for the second time in his career.

Nuggets general manager Kiki Vandeweghe wants to sign another shooting guard by early next week - and Lenard appears to be the front-runner.

"Voshon is a strong candidate," Denver coach Jeff Bzdelik said Thursday. "Voshon Lenard is a veteran two-guard . . . who has made a large number of big shots."

All three free agents who have signed with the Nuggets this summer are guards: point guards Andre Miller and Earl Boykins, and shooting guard Jon Barry.

"(Lenard) would combine with Jon Barry to give us a very potent offensive perimeter threat, and we all know that we need to add scoring," Bzdelik said.

Lenard, 30, spent two seasons in Denver before signing with the Toronto Raptors as a free agent after the 2001-02 season. He averaged 14.3 points on .402 shooting in Toronto.
