The Phoenix Suns have fired Frank Johnson as it's head coach after a 8-13 start, which included a loss to the Orlando Magic that snapped it's 19-game losing streak.

A 4:30 pm news conference has been scheduled at America West Arena to announce the decision.

"I talked to Bryan and Jerry (Colangelo) this morning and they have decided to make the change," Johnson told The Republic Wednesday afternoon, referring to the team's president/general manager and chief executive, respectively.

Assistant coach and former Denver Nuggets head coach Mike D'Antoni will take over as interim head coach.
