Peter Vescey says that Pacers coach Rick Carlisle is over-investing in his aging superstar, Reggie Miller.

Vescey specifically calls into question Carlisle?s decision to match Miller against Richard Hamilton.  Then Carlisle didn?t switch Miller off of Rip until the latter had accumulated the majority of his points and it was too late to salvage the game.

Also Miller does not deserve to be commended for deferring to the Pacers? young guns, including Jermaine O'Neal and Ron Artest, because he did so in the face of diminished offensive ability and with Pacers management plunking down another big payday to finish his career.

Vescey doesn?t see a wise old veteran leading his team to the promised land, but rather a guy who is out there passing up wide open shots and losing his cool to the detriment of his team.
