The Los Angeles Lakers are not going to give the Detroit Pistons a lot of credit, even after the Pistons knocked off the Lakers Sunday night to take a 1-0 lead in the NBA Finals.

The Lakers didn?t seem to want to admit that Detroit ? its smothering defense, the play of Chauncey Billups, none of it ? had anything to do with their humbling experience in Game 1 at home.

?We beat ourselves,? Shaquille O?Neal said. ?I think it has gotten our attention. We realize that team is not going to lay down because the Lakers are in the building. It?s not anything they did to throw us out of our game. I just think it?s more us.?

The Lakers? arrogance is a hard thing to bear, but so is their high talent level.  Can the Pistons overcome that to win the title?
