Darius Washington Jr.'s father has a few problems with Sebastian Telfair. Washington is a point guard from Orlando who is heading into his freshman year at Memphis and not into the NBA like Telfair, a first-round pick of the Portland Trail Blazers. According to his father, Washington could make the jump after just one year at Memphis.

"Take him out of New York and put him in North Carolina or somewhere like that, or put him in a gym where nobody knows his name, and he's just another kid," Darius Washington Sr., whose son was one of Telfair's biggest rivals, told the Daily News yesterday.

"By all means," the father said by phone. "If you look at their talent, Darius beats him in every category except one. (Telfair) is a great passer."
