The Miami Heat signed coach Stan Van Gundy to a multi-year extension Monday and also extended general manager Randy Pfund.

Van Gundy took over when Pat Riley stepped down last October and led the Heat to their first postseason in three years.

"Randy and Stan are two of the most loyal, competent and reliable men at their positions in the NBA," Riley said. "I look forward to continue working closely with them to help bring a championship to Miami."

Van Gundy joined the Heat in 1995 and spent eight seasons as an assistant to Riley.

GM Pfund has been with the Heat the past nine seasons.
