Kenyon Martin has a couple of maximum contract offers on the table.  Now he hopes three is a charm.

Martin wants to stay in New Jersey and would prefer to see the Nets ante up.

The Hawks and Nuggets have extended the maximum offer to Martin.  So now, as a restricted free-agent, Martin will have to see if the Nets match.  If they do, they retain him.  Alternatively, the Nets could let Martin go or discuss sign-and-trade possibilities with the two interested teams.

"Kenyon has received multiple offers," Martin's agent, Brian Dyke, confirmed yesterday. "We'll make our decision over the weekend."

If the Nets are so inclined, they could trump the other offers by giving Martin a seven-year contract at $103 million.  New owner Bruce Ratner has said he wants to keep 'The Big Three' of Martin, Richard Jefferson and Jason Kidd intact.

"We will assess it organizationally," said Nets' CEO Rod Thorn who said the team has not made a decision yet on which path to take.  "There are several options, of course. You can match or look to a sign-and-trade, for example. You never know what can happen so you always leave all your options open."

Martin would probably prefer to go to Denver over Atlanta if he's forced to leave New Jersey.  His chances of winning with the Nuggets are higher.
