The Jamal Crawford sign-and-trade deal that would send him to New York will have to wait another day at least.

Agent Aaron Goodwin has confirmed that the deal has been agreed upon in principle.

The only remaining item is fine tuning the details of Crawford's estimated six-year, $55 million contract.

"There's a deal on the table," Goodwin said. "Barring something unusual, we should have something [today]."

The NBA was holding its company picnic so nobody was around to give the trade final approval.  But the deal could processed as soon as today.

Dikembe Mutombo, Othella Harrington and Frank Williams, all in the final years of their contracts, will head to Chicago.  Isiah Thomas finally relented on the inclusion of Moochie Norris and substituted Harrington in his place.

Crawford appears to be heading to MSG, and there is a chance that another sign-and-trade for Golden State center Erick Dampier could follow.  Kurt Thomas and Nazr Mohammed will be involved in these discussions.

Dampier is expected to fly to New York tonight and visit with Knick management tomorrow, then work out at the Knicks' practice facility.

The Knicks may have to take back Evan Eschmeyer to make the Warriors willing to pull the sign-and-trade trigger on a Dampier deal.

When the Knicks obtain Crawford, could Isiah change his mind on making Stephon Marbury available for trade?  Toronto GM Rob Babcock was in Minnesota when Marbury was drafted and reports have been steady that Vince Carter would love to be in New York next season.  Only Marbury could conceivably get such a blockbuster done for the Knicks.

Allan Houston might come off the bench in the above scenario, with Crawford at the point, Carter at the two, and Tim Thomas taking the small forward spot.
