Sacramento Kings forward Peja Stojakovic told the Associated Press in a telephone interview Thursday that he has asked Kings President of Basketball Operations Geoff Petrie for a trade.

"I think the change would be good for the team and myself," he said. "That's the only explanation you're going to get from me."

Petrie did not return phone calls seeking comment. Reportedly, Stojakovic is upset the Kings did not pursue fellow Serbian Vlade Divac hard enough when he became a free agent.

The former Kings' center returned to the Los Angeles Lakers where he started his career.
