The Indiana Pacers have announced they will donate $2.4 million in suspended player salaries stemming from the Nov 19 brawl to local charities that emphasize youth.

"We had a bad five minutes. It certainly hurt us as a team and it certainly hurt our community, so we want to turn that around and try to do something to benefit the community," said Pacers CEO Donnie Walsh.

Five Pacers players were suspended after the Nov. 19 incident in a game against the Pistons in Auburn Hills, Mich. Their salary from missed games served as fines, with the money sent to the National Basketball Association. The NBA, which donates the money to charity, is allowing a portion to come back to the Pacers for local charities.
