Geoff Petrie, the Sacramento Kings' president of basketball operations, underwent a procedure to open a blocked artery in his heart just one day after his team was eliminated by Seattle from the playoffs.

Petrie, 57, had an angioplasty to remove the blockage that was found Wednesday after he complained of tightness in his chest while running.

His wife, Anne-Marie, said Petrie complained of discomfort for about three weeks, but put off getting a checkup until after the playoffs.
