In an interview with the Wisconsin State Journal, Lenny Harris indicated that they are not building a team under the assumption that T.J. Ford will be able to play again.

"T.J. Ford will have no impact at all. We're drafting Andrew Bogut or Marvin Williams. T.J.'s health has no bearing on the draft at all. We may take a point guard in the second round if he's the best player. We're encouraged about what we're hearing when it comes to T.J. He's working at the pace the doctors want. But it's going to be a long process. I still believe he's going to play again, but we have to move forward. We have to build, and if he comes back, it's a bonus.

"The pieces this summer are the first-round pick will be a starter. Then you re-sign (guard Michael) Redd, (center Dan) Gadzuric and (forward Zaza) Pachulia. The core of your team is back. Then we have some flexibility financially to add some more pieces. We need a piece that is kind of a (point, shooting guard) combination; then we're going to need a shooter who will play behind (Redd) and Desmond (Mason). We need those pieces. We need those regardless of whether or not T.J. comes back. We know we need depth."
