According to the New York Post a source in the Washington Wizards' front office said GM Ernie Grunfeld fielded a half-dozen calls from teams interested in a sign-and-trade for former first overall pick Kwame Brown, despite his attitude problems during last season's NBA Playoffs and despite his lack of progress throughout his rookie contract.

The Wizards earlier in the week had extended a qualifying offer to Brown, making him a restricted free agent and giving themselves the option of matching any offer the 6-11 forward may receive.

The New York Knicks remain one of the teams most interested in Brown.
