Atlanta Hawks Executive Vice President and General Manager Billy Knight today announced that the organization has waived center Obinna Ekezie and forward James Thomas from the active roster.

Ekezie, a four-year player out of the University of Maryland ('99), appeared in 42 games (31 starts) following his January arrival and finished the season with averages of 5.5 points and 4.3 rebounds (.434 FG%, .774 FT%).  He missed the final eight contests with a strained left shoulder.

A late season acquisition (he was signed as a free agent on April 9), Thomas came to Atlanta from the NBDL's Roanoke Dazzle and saw action in only two games (1.0 ppg, 1.0 rpg) before he was placed on the injured list for the remainder of the season on April 16.
