The Portland Trailblazers ended their search for a coach Wednesday, agreeing to a five-year contract with Seattle Supersonics Head Coach Mate McMillian. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

McMillian is leaving Seattle for the first time in his career to either play or coach for another team. Seattle was hoping to re-sign McMillian after they agreed to terms with their star shooting guard, Ray Allen.

"We are feeling a mixture of pride in his accomplishments as the head coach of the Sonics and sorrow that he will not be a part of our organization going forward," Sonics president Wally Walker said.
