The Seattle Supersonics could look down their bench to replace former head coach Nate McMillan, who left the team last week to take the Portland TrailBlazers head coaching position.

Assistant coach Bob Weiss is a canadiate for the job and he believes he is the right person for it.

"I love this city, and it's just a natural for me," said Weiss, who has been an assistant in Seattle since 1994. "We've had success. So nobody knows the continuity better than me. Nobody knows where these guys came from, where they are now and where they're going. I'm very, very excited about the opportunity if I should get it."

"I want to get this team through this transition to where we can keep moving up, and then when the timing is right, I'd love to hand it off to the right guy and then move up into the front office. But I don't know if there's anybody better qualified right now to handle this job."

If Weiss does not get the job, he will likely join Nate McMillan in Portland.
