While rumors heat up that Wizards free agent forward Kwame Brown will be signed and traded to the Lakers, Pacers President Larry Bird is denying a rumor that Indiana is trying to trade for him.

The rumor has forward Jeff Foster and guard Fred Jones going to Washington for Brown.

"That would not happen," Bird said Tuesday. "There's no way we'll do that."

Bill Duffy, who is the agent for Foster and Jones, does not believe it will happen.

"Based on my history with (Pacers CEO) Donnie Walsh, if something was imminent I would have talked to him by now," Duffy said.
