Bill Laimbeer has told Isiah Thomas that he no longer wants to be considered for the Knicks' head coaching job, a source involved in the talks told ESPN's Jim Gray.

The source added that Laimbeer plans to concentrate on his current head coaching job with the WNBA's Detroit Shock and that he has an interest in the Sonics opening.

In June, Laimbeer had a second interview with Thomas. In April, Thomas called interim coach Herb Williams the "front-runner" to be the head coach when training camp opens in October.

"We have a whole summer to do our homework and make sure that we do what's right and what's best for the New York Knicks," he told the Times.
