The Knicks' three-month coaching search likely ends this week and it's become a simple scenario.

On Monday, agent Joe Glass and several members of the Pistons organization will resume talks aimed at keeping Brown with Detroit. Glass expects a resolution within the next few days, which Brown believed to be a good bet to remain.

Even if Brown is bought out, it's unlikely the Pistons, whose owner Bill Davidson had a falling out with Thomas, will allow Brown to coach the Knicks next season.

If the Pistons announce Brown is back, the Knicks will in turn announce Herb Williams will return as head coach as early as Wednesday, with the strong possibility Pepperdine coach Paul Westphal will also be named top assistant/offensive coordinator. Thomas interviewed Westphal for the head-coaching position two months ago.
