The NBA's 10-day contract period begins today, and it is likely the Clippers will sign a player to bolster their injury-depleted team.

By waiving veteran guard Howard Eisley on Tuesday, the Clippers have 14 players on the roster, one under the league maximum.

The Clippers did not bring any prospective players in Wednesday for auditions, but with starting forward Corey Maggette still weeks away from returning, Coach Mike Dunleavy and Elgin Baylor, the Clippers vice president of basketball operations, have expressed the need for a small forward the past two weeks.

Maggette is scheduled to undergo another examination today or Friday on his injured left foot, which remains in a cast.
