Sonics coach Bob Hill said he has talked with GM Rick Sund about acquiring another point guard. And NBA sources said the Sonics have renewed interest in former Sonic Earl Watson, who is in the first year of a five-year deal with the Denver Nuggets.

The Sonics had interest in Watson in December, but they would need to trade players whose salaries come within 25 percent of Watson's $5 million salary. Forward Reggie Evans has requested a trade, but he only makes $1.1 million.

Seattle would love to deal Danny Fortson, but his $6.4 million salary that increases to $6.9 million next season is likely to scare off many teams.

"In a perfect world, you want a consistent backup point guard," Hill said. "There are a bunch of them out there but getting them is hard."
