Two acquaintances of Denver Nuggets forward Kenyon Martin were involved in a confrontation with a fan who heckled Martin during Wednesday night's game, police said.

Martin, who wasn't playing because of a knee injury, turned and said something to the fan, Detective Virginia Lopez said. Martin returned his attention to the game, but the two acquaintances went into the stands and spoke to the man before leaving, she said.

After the game, the man was speaking with security personnel when Martin and the other two men returned and more words were exchanged, Lopez said. She said no police report was filed.

Neither the fan nor the two other men were identified.

Martin denied speaking to the fan, saying he was concentrating on the game, a 110-107 loss to the Chicago Bulls.

"Fans say stuff all the time," he said. "I'm not going to acknowledge it. It doesn't matter."
