The Orlando Magic have acquired guard Carlos Arroyo and forward-center Darko Milicic from Detroit in exchange for center Kelvin Cato and a future protected first round draft pick, Assistant General Manager Otis Smith announced tonight.  In addition, the Magic have waived forward Terence Morris.

?This deal allows us the opportunity to pick up a young, big in Darko (Milicic) and a true point guard in Carlos (Arroyo),? said Smith.  ?We look forward to their contributions to our ball club and wish Kelvin all the best.?

Not drafted by an NBA franchise, Arroyo has appeared in 272 career NBA regular season games with Toronto, Denver, Utah and Detroit, averaging 6.4 ppg., 3.4 apg. and 1.6 rpg. in 17.3 minpg.  He has also appeared in 22 playoff outings, averaging 2.2 ppg. and 2.0 rpg. in 8.0 minpg.  Arroyo became the fifth player from Puerto Rico to play in the NBA and is a member of the Puerto Rican National Team.

Milicic has played in 96 career NBA regular season games, all with the Pistons, averaging 1.6 ppg. and 1.2 rpg. in 5.8 minpg.

?This gives us the opportunity to acquire a seven-footer with a high skill level,? said Magic Head Coach Brian Hill.  ?We feel that he will be a nice complement playing alongside Dwight Howard.  In Carlos, we get a true point guard that has played on very good teams.  With our current injury situation, we felt this addressed one of our needs.?
