Chucky Atkins might have found a home in Memphis.

"It's crazy," Atkins said Thursday after practice. "Crazy things happen sometimes in the NBA."

He wants to remain a Grizzly.

Roughly 21/2 months into what amounts to a fast-paced audition for the rest of the league, Atkins will consider Memphis first when he becomes a free agent this summer.

"From day one, I said I thought it would be a good fit," Atkins said. "I didn't know it would work out like it has. I'm very happy to be here. I'm grateful that the organization wanted me here, and coach (Mike) Fratello lets me play with the type of freedom that you want as a player. Hopefully, things will work out. It's been a good situation. I don't know what the organization thinks about having me back. But it's definitely something I want."
