Chris Wilcox began the season as Elton Brand's back-up and he will close the season as one of the most coveted free agents.

"It's all about opportunity," said Wilcox, who averaged 23.0 points and 15.3 rebounds in three games last week to capture the award. "I'm getting a chance. Coach [Bob] Hill has given me a great opportunity to go out there and play with nothing on my back. I don't worry about making mistakes. I just go out and play hard, so that's helped me come along."

Wilcox continues to impress Hill, both on the court and in the locker room.

"It's been great for him and even greater for us," Hill said of Wilcox. "We have found him to be a terrific guy. He's blended in with the personality of the team and he's gained the respect of Ray [Allen], Rashard [Lewis] and some of the leaders on the team real fast."
