John Whisenant, the coach of Sacramento's WNBA affiliate Sacramento Monarchs, will be strongly considered for the position of Sacramento Kings head coach.

Whisenant has no NBA coaching experience, but was the 2005 WNBA coach of the year.

The team-owning Maloof brothers would not confirm if a new coach had been hired.
