Milwaukee Bucks forward Bobby Simmons sat out the preseason opener on Wednesday night against Minnesota with a bruised right heel.

Simmons averaged 13.4 points and 4.4 rebounds for the Bucks last season in his first year in Milwaukee after signing a five-year, $47 million contract.

A team spokesman said the injury doesn't appear serious and Simmons is listed as day-to-day.

Ruben Patterson, acquired in a trade with Denver for Joe Smith in August, started in his place.
