Despite recent statements from coach Doc Rivers and Sebastian Telfair that the New York police are not investigating the Celtics' point guard in connection to the shooting of rapper Fabolous early Tuesday morning, the media frenzy surrounding Telfair showed no signs of dissipating last night at Mohegan Sun Arena.

Hoping for a fresh comment, reporters followed Telfair through his pregame routine.

Telfair did not talk about the incident prior to Boston's 113-89 win over New York last night. Afterward, Telfair talked to reporters, but declined to address the incident. Asked if it were true his cousin, Knicks point guard Stephon Marbury, was robbed at gunpoint, Telfair said, "I'm here to talk about the game. We pretty much played our best defensive game so far in the preseason."

But Rivers did answer questions about Telfair and tried, once again, to move on from the matter.

When asked if he was worried about Telfair's mind-set given all that was "swirling" around the point guard, Rivers said, "I don't think anything is swirling around him, to be honest. I think that's pretty much a dead issue as far as he's concerned.

"The investigation, I guess, is still going on and I don't think he's involved in that. He's been great. I was more concerned the first night [after the story broke] back in Boston and he played pretty darn well."
