Jason Kidd and Vince Carter will still be with the Nets on Monday.

"There's nothing that's even close to fruition, just the usual discussions," Nets president Rod Thorn said Sunday night from Las Vegas. "I certainly don't anticipate anything happening in the next few days. So yes, it's almost assured that we'll have the same players at practice tomorrow."

Thorn is still attempting to gauge whether or not Carter will opt out of his contract.

"You can't always get what you want. Let's say there were discussions, but there's nothing definitive at this time," Thorn said, clearly referring to Carter's agent Kurt Schoeppler.

"It doesn't affect what we do, not necessarily -- from my perspective," Thorn added. "I have to look at what my options are, whether they're good or not so good. And then we try to ascertain what options he has -- who's under the cap, who might have a need. But that doesn't mean we're going to trade Vince. We're only going to trade someone if it benefits us.

"He said he would play through the season and then decide what he's going to do. He may not opt out at all."
