Cleveland Cavaliers forward LeBron James was named today as the NBA?s Eastern Conference Player of the Month for games played in the month of March.

Without much surprise, Kobe Bryant was named the Player of the Month in the Western Conference.  Bryant scored 50 points in four consecutive games in the month.

During the month, Cleveland posted an 11-5 record while James averaged an Eastern Conference-high 30.3 points on .484 shooting, 6.7 rebounds and 7.0 assists per game in 15 games played.  He has now won the award five times in his career: once this season, twice in 2004-05 and on two occasions during the 2005-06 campaign.
