The Nuggets played the Lakers on Tuesday night without coach George Karl, whose son underwent surgery for the removal of cancerous lymph nodes a day earlier.
"His son is more important (than the Nuggets-Lakers game)," Denver's Allen Iverson said. "That's the most important thing."
Assistant Adrian Dantley assumed head coaching duties in Karl's absence.
