Kansas sophomore Brandon Rush will enter the NBA draft, he told the Kansas City Star in an interview.

"I'm ready to take the next step," Rush, who led the Jayhawks in scoring the past two seasons, told the newspaper. "I'm ready to make a better life for me and my family."

Kansas was expected to officially announce Rush's decision on Friday, and Rush told the Star he would not hold a news conference to make the announcement. Instead, he will be in Dallas for the weekend.

"I'm saying all that needs to be said right now," he told the newspaper. "I'm just ready to get away for a little while and chill."
