Sam Mitchell, the current coach of the year, is widely regarded as a top choice for the Pacers, who fired coach Rick Carlisle last week. Phoenix Suns assistant coach Marc Iavaroni also is on their list.

The Pacers are one of five teams with a coaching vacancy and likely will face competition for Mitchell, who could re-sign with the Raptors.

The Pacers must get permission from the Raptors to talk to Mitchell because he is under contract until June 30.
