Potential NBA draft pick DeVon Hardin is expected to announce on Sunday that he's signed with an agent and won't return to Cal for his senior season, a source close to the family said.

Hardin declared eligibility for the draft in April but didn't sign with an agent, leaving open the option of returning to school. He has until Monday to withdraw his name from draft consideration.

According to his father, Michael, it may take that long to decide.

"This whole situation is kind of fluid, so it's too soon to say," he said. "We're hearing good news, and we're getting some feedback that will be useful in making the decision, but there's no decision yet."

Hardin has worked out for nearly 20 NBA teams -- with the Warriors scheduled for Sunday and the Lakers on Monday.

Hardin admittedly is a little raw offensively. He had shoulder surgery last summer and missed have of his junior year with a stress fracture in foot.

For each of those questions, Todd Troxel has an answer. The trainer from Velocity Sports Performance in Reno, Nev., has worked with Hardin twice a day, six times a week for more than a month.

"He's one of the most athletic people I've ever seen; physically he's about as strong as he can get," Troxel said. "His size, strength and athleticism are off the charts, and I think he has a lot more (basketball) moves than people think."

Troxel also said Hardin is completely recovered from his foot injury and has been pain free during the training.

Since Hardin hadn't signed with an agent, his family bore the financial responsibility of the training and the traveling. Michael Hardin, however, said it was well worth it.

"I almost don't want to know how much we've spent," he joked. "It's an investment in his future, regardless of what he does. He's getting great knowledge and experience that he could only get this way."

Michael Hardin said he planned a conference call late Saturday with a group of people who could provide more advice with regards to his son's decision. After today's workout, the Hardins will meet with the coaches and be ready to make an announcement, he said.

The Newark Memorial High grad averaged 6.6 points and 6.0 rebounds a game and had 95 blocks in three seasons at Cal.
