Doug Christie, 15-year veteran of the Lakers, Knicks, Raptors, Kings, Magic, Mavericks and Clippers, is aiming to resume his playing career at the age of 37.  Like so many players his age without a championship ring, this is his biggest regret.  It?s certainly also a big part of his motivation to play again.

?I have not worked out for any teams as I?ve been in intense workouts up in Washington and my agent wants to wait and see where I will best fit and see how the summer league teams pan out and the NBA rosters come together,? said Christie in an interview this week with RealGM.

?The teams that feel I can help at this point are the Cavs, Jazz, Suns and Bulls, but I?m still evaluating how the others come together and will decide closer to the beginning of the season.?

Christie played seven games for the Clippers last season.

?My experience with the Clippers showed me that joining a team late in the season has positives and negatives,? said Christie.  ?A positive  being that I can fit in really well with any group of players and I?m able to pick up the offense that they have been playing all year right away. A negative being that when you join so late in the year they already have a system in place on how they play there original guy's that?s been there all year.?

Any team interested in signing Christie will certainly have questions about his age and ankles.

?They are 100% healed and stronger than ever,? said Christie.  ?Some media reports (claim) that I have recurring problems with my ankle (which) is totally false. I only had bone spurs that were removed in 2005 and it has been healing ever since and although it took a little while longer to heal than I would have liked. I?m very exited that all is well.?

I also asked Christie if he would only consider playing for a team that permits family to travel with the players.

?I have played on teams that did not allow family to travel and it made no difference,? said Christie.

?My goal is to go out there and give 100% to the team I?m on and if that means little (playing time) for a contender, so be it, and if a lottery team calls on my services then they too will get a very professional veteran basketball player.?
