NBA referee Tim Donaghy met at home with his lawyer Tuesday night for the first time in two weeks, fueling speculation the betting-scandal suspect may soon surrender.

Donaghy pressed up against a smoked-glass window of his house as he awaited attorney John Lauro. Lauro, who specializes in defending white-collar criminals, stayed for more than two hours, although he did not appear to bring any papers with him.

Vito Bavaro, a friend of Donaghy's who visits the ref daily, said the two men ate dinner together.

Donaghy has been holed up in his house for nearly three weeks, since the federal probe of his alleged betting with mob-connected bookies on NBA games became public.
