The Heat had been in trade talks with the Warriors for Mickael Pietrus and Sarunas Jasikevicius, but several proposals fell through. The agents for both players said Thursday they didn't expect the Heat to try to sign Pietrus or Jasikevicius through free agency.

The Heat, which is about $4 million over the NBA's dollar-for-dollar luxury-tax threshold ($67.8 million), also could withhold the remainder of its mid-level exception and reduce its tax burden.
