Before Friday's game with the Wizards, the Celtics dedicated the famed parquet in honor of team patriarch Arnold "Red" Auerbach.

Auerbach, the cigar-smoking godfather of the NBA who turned the Celtics into the most dominant dynasty in pro sports history, died October 28, 2006 at the age of 89.

The floor will be known as "The Red Auerbach Parquet" for all future home games.

Celtics' captain Paul Pierce paid tribute as he addressed the fans, "Red will always be with us."
