An irate Isiah Thomas last night lashed into his Knicks with more fire than he has in his two seasons as coach following their latest humiliating massacre - ranting the team has shown "no heart," "no courage," and "no pride."

The Knicks were blasted in the second half by the Pacers, falling behind by 31 points in a 119-92 drubbing at the boo-infested Garden, attended by slouching owner James Dolan.

"Our collective toughness, our collective heart, we say the right things but we didn't gut it out for 48 minutes; we don't grind it out for 48 minutes; we don't compete like we should," Thomas seethed.

"A lot of things have been said about me, teams that I coached. The way I played, I've never been accused of not having heart or competing. And tonight was very discouraging to me because we didn't collectively play with heart, compete like I know I did."

Perhaps Thomas has to coach like he played - with more passion.

"I think we have the talent," Thomas said. "Just because we have talent and skill doesn't necessarily mean you have the heart. As a team, you got to have heart."
