The Rockets have targeted Friday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves for Tracy McGrady to return from his knee injuries.

Team physician Dr. Tom Clanton said McGrady's tendinitis, bone bruise and strained popliteal tendon, all in his left knee, can be evaluated with a workout Thursday to determine if he would be able to play the next day.

"We still believe it will be around 7 to 10 days (after Wednesday's MRI)," Clanton said. "We obviously will re-evaluate him around this time. We have a home series coming up on the 11th of January. We'll take a look at him then to see if he can play. One of our rules is you have to be able to practice before you can play. We'll be evaluating him functionally to see if he can do the things to be able to practice."
