Isiah Thomas raised more questions over the severity of Stephon Marbury's ankle injury when he told reporters Friday that the veteran point guard was not showing any signs of breaking down.

"The last couple of games I didn't notice any wear and tear," Thomas said. "I thought he was sharp. I thought he was quick. He moved well. And when he's played this year I thought he moved well and was quick."

The Knicks announced on Thursday that Marbury had "chosen" to have surgery next week to remove bone spurs from his left ankle. The operation could sideline Marbury for the rest of the season. The wording of the Knicks' statement suggests that the club doesn't fully agree with Marbury's decision.

"I think that is accurate in saying it is his decision," Thomas said.

Marbury's last game was Jan. 11, when he played 38 minutes in a loss to Toronto. He had X-rays afterward and sat out the next three games before having an MRI on Thursday.

Thomas claims he didn't notice anything out of the ordinary in the Raptors' game except that "Zach (Randolph) had nine minutes. That's what I noticed."
