Desmond Mason, who played in Oklahoma City as a member of the Hornets two seasons ago, will become a free agent next summer, according to The Oklahoman.

Oklahoma City acquired Mason, who has career averages of 11.9 points and 6.9 rebounds, in a three-way trade with Cleveland and Milwaukee on Wednesday.

"Free agency has a life of its own, and you really don't know what's going to take place," Mason's agent Roger Montgomery said of his client lasting more than one season in Oklahoma City. "But I think they're going to have just as good a chance as anybody else being that they're going to be able to be around him and see what he brings to the table on a daily basis."
