Raptors' forward Jermaine O'Neal says that he believes he would have been done for the season had he not been wearing a brace when he tweaked his troublesome knee against the Nets last Friday.

Strangely, O'Neal played a majority of the third quarter without the brace on his left knee. For whatever reason he put the brace back on to start the fourth, a decision that could have saved Toronto's season.

"I probably would have been done for the year if I wouldn't have had the brace on," O'Neal said.

O'Neal isn't sure if he'll be able to play on Wednesday night against Charlotte, but his day-to-day status has nothing to do with his knee.

He sprained his ankle against the Celtics on Sunday.

"I think you should show (the knee on TV) so people can look at it," said O'Neal. "It looks really good, but the ankle's a little fat right now."
