Golden State Warriors assistant coach Sidney Moncrief has accepted a position with the Beijing Ducks of the Chinese Basketball Association, the team announced today.

Moncrief, who became a full-time assistant coach with the Warriors this past summer, will cease his duties with the team immediately.

Moncrief, 51, will serve the Ducks as a Consultant, which will entail various responsibilities, including the mentoring of the team?s coaching staff.

?This is a tremendous opportunity for me,? said Moncrief. ?I have worked with members of the Chinese Basketball Association in the past and look forward to expanding my horizons and sharing my basketball knowledge.  I certainly enjoyed my time with the Warriors organization and, obviously, owe a great deal of thanks and gratitude to Don Nelson, who has been a friend, mentor and associate of mine for the last 30 years.  He?s opened up many doors for me following my playing days and we will always remain close.?
