Wizards' guard DeShawn Stevenson sat out the team's loss to the Grizzles on Monday night with a sore lower back.

Stevenson had missed fifteen consecutive games before playing in back-to-back contests on Friday and Saturday night.

He will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis, and is hoping to avoid surgery.

"It just kind of flared up on him," interim coach Ed Tapscott said of Stevenson. "It's the kind of thing where you take two steps forward, one step back, so we want to be cautious. We have a lot of games left and we've got the all-star break coming up so we'll have that whole week in terms of helping a guy get better physically."
