The 76ers insured Elton Brand's five-year, $60 million contract against injury when it was signed last July.

Brand, who struggled to return from a shoulder injury, will be out for the season after undergoing surgery soon.

General manager Ed Stefanski claims that everyone with a contract of similar magnitude is insured.

"But there are so many games of deductible, and I have not looked into it, and I'm not even thinking about what insurance we may get back," he said.
