The hopes of the Washington Wizards were heightened on Monday when Gilbert Arenas and Brendan Haywood took part in non-contact drills, the Associated Press is reporting.

"We had two guys that were able to participate that haven't been able to in the past," interim coach Ed Tapscott said. "Both Brendan and Gilbert did some shooting and some running up and down the floor, so it was great to see those guys out there."

Neither player has played this season due to injuries.
