Jermaine O'Neal has played three games with the Heat, with varying results, but has vowed to be ready to help the team win down the stretch.

"I haven't been able to put together a complete game thus far, but you have nights like that where you can't really find your shot, shots feel good when they leave your hand but just don't fall, and it was one of those nights for me," O'Neal said.

He had just 6 points and 2 rebounds on 2-for-10 shooting in 25 minutes against the Magic on Sunday night.

"I actually apologized to them at the end of the game," O'Neal said after the 122-99 loss. "I just felt as though I wasn't able to help, and I had one of those games that NBA players kind of dread, you know, and you go home and think about things that you did in the game and get ready for the next one."

Miami will face Detroit on Tuesday night in South Beach.

"I expect to play well, and I don't use excuses at all. I'm paid to do my job, and if I don't do my job then I'm going to be critical of myself. No matter what the scenario is, when I step onto the court with my jersey on, I have got to do that job.

I will respond come Tuesday."
